Take the journey through the Cherry Blossom festival through our camera lens. Cherry Blossom is the time when Washington DC celebrates the blooming of the 3750 odd cherry trees.
Spring is the time when life slowly creeps back in after a frigid and snow filled winter. In Washington DC, it is celebrated with the blooming cherry trees along the banks of its tidal basin. Cherry Blossom festival is celebration of the simultaneous blossoming of the 3000 cherry trees gifted to the people of Washington DC by Japan in 1912 as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. The number has now grown to about 3750.
With all the trees blossoming at roughly the same time, it is sight to behold along the banks of the tidal basin. Believe me, I was there along with hundreds of other tourists in Washington DC.
Enough of boring talk. Come take a photographic journey through the festival.
