Narayana Murthy as President - follow-up
Some clarifications and opinion
I was told by my friend that the report in Indiatimes was a holi-time prank (shame on you Indiatimes, a paper is supposed to print truth and not play pranks). Even so, the idea itself merits some thought. Imagine what would India be if we can have such visionary presidents as NRN, Azim Premji and the likes.
The entire focus that India has will change propelling India into stratosphere and achieving undreamt of progress and prosperity.

Narayana Murthy as President - Opinion
I personally do not think it would make any difference since the President is not at all involved in policy makings in India. The job of president is to just sign bills into law, follow protocol with visiting heads of states, give a speech to parliament joint session about the governements views and directions (decided by the cabinet) etc...
Though it would be a great way to honor these visionaries by making them presidents, it would only result in wasting their time in long and boring formal dinners with visiting dignatories and the clerical process of signing various papers, getting into politics of who should form a govt and who should not and what not.
Imagine a situation where NRN as president has to live with a person who has become PM without any completancy just because the numbers somehow favor him. How frustrating that would be for NRN?
Rather, we should honor these people in a different way and let them carry on the work they are doing.
