Reel life name in Real life fraud
When I read about the massive fraud (?) committed by the Stanford Financial Group while following the West Indies vs England test match, I was opened up the link just out of curiousity to see what it was all about. One name popped out instantly. That of the Laura Pendergest-Holt, the chief investment officer for the organization.
When I was young, I was a great big fan of the TV series, Remington Steele. In that TV series Laura Holt is the name of the name of the leading lady played by Stephanie Zimbalist who creates the fictional character of Remington Steele to give her detective agency a masculine feel.
When I first saw the name of Laura Pendergest-Holt I thought, this is exactly like in the movies and the TV series. They have created a fictional character with a popular TV character name to hide the activities. When I try to search for the name, Laura Pendergest-Holt - absolutely nothing comes up. You would think that a Chief investment officer of such a large financial firm would have some coverage on the Internet. I don't know what to make of this small discrepancy. But my mind cannot accept this fact that a person as high up in the corporate ladder has no history.
It looks that this fraud has been carefully planned for a long time and has been executed with the expectation that it would be exposed one day or the other. They have created a fake identity and I won't be surprised when all the blame will be put on this person for all the wrong doings and the real culprits will go scot free for the lack of evidence.
Let's hope the regulators and investigators do a thorough investigation of this scam.
