Skype announces end of service
All good things have to come to an end. We all enjoyed making free calls within US and Canada using SkypeOut. Skype yesterday announced in an email to all existing customers / registered users that it has ended the free calls service to any phone within US and Canada using SkypeOut effective 31st December 2006. The announcement on the website is here.
Any calls made after that date will be charged at 2.1 cents (2.4 Canadian cents) per minute. Skype instead is coming out with a product that will allow its customers to make unlimited calls within US and Canada at a surprisingly low rate of $14.95 per year. However this price is valid till 31st January 2007. After that it will cost $29.95.
